ROGIER VAN DER WEYDEN
(1399-1464)
Roger of la Pasture was a Netherlandish painter active in the 15th century. He typically painted religious triptychs and other, more commissioned pieces.
Rogier van der Weyden was one of the most influential painters in the fifteenth century. He is known for being an expert in naturalism and expressionism.
Like many of his friends' artists, Van der Weyden often incorporated illusionistic elements in his paintings. This can be seen by using sculpture, three-dimensional structures within the painting's flat surfaces, and realistic-looking colors.
