GUSTAV KLIMT
(1862-1918)
Gustav Klimt was born in 1862 in Austria. He was a symbolist painter and one of the most notable members of the Vienna Secession movement.
Klimt is famous for his paintings, murals, sketches, and other art objects. Klimt's primary subject was the female body and was also known for industrial arts.
Gustav Klimt became famous for his art's admiringly decorative style and erotic nature, which were seen as an uprising against the formal academic art of his time.
His most famous painting is The Kiss (Lovers), Klimt's most well-known work, and is part of his 'Golden Phase'.
He used gold leaf in this painting as a background, just like in his other works, to add an elegant aspect to the artwork. He started this painting in 1907.
“All art is erotic.” “Whoever wants to know something about me, they should look attentively at my pictures and there seek to recognize what I am and what I want.”
