Lucio Fontana is famous for his slashed and punctured canvases. He also produced paintings, ceramic sculptures, and light-based installations that all expressed a strong interest in the materiality of the materials he used.
Fontana was fascinated by space. He founded the Spatialism art movement in 1947, not long after the first-ever photos of Earth taken from a rocket appeared in magazines worldwide.
