Who is Cindy Sherman?

Cindy Sherman (born January 19, 1954) is one of America's best-known photographers. When describing her works, it is intentional to say they consist mainly of "self-portraits," and they often comment on social norms and sexual stereotyping.

In 2002, Cindy Sherman began her acclaimed series of Clowns. Sherman said that she depicted clowns to show the complicated passionate deeps of an expressed smile. She also recorded that clowns have an underlying feeling of despair when trying to cheer somebody up.
