Artist Feature – Danielle Winger

“My work is about Place. For me, no space is permanent and home is not a fixed entity. Pulling from themes commonly found in German Romantic landscape painting, I create intensely personal portraits of quiet, meditative spaces that encourage contemplation and reflection.  Using landscape as a ubiquitous device for investigating my personal history, I explore the desire to connect to nature, to long for shelter and to belong.”

Danielle Winger was born in Reno, NV and has spent her life moving throughout the US, including 8 states and 14 cities. She received a Bachelor of Science in Textiles, Merchandising and Apparel Design from Middle Tennessee State University and a Master of Fine Arts in Studio Art: Painting from East Tennessee State University. She has participated in group and solo exhibitions in Tennessee, Ohio, Wisconsin and Indiana and was chosen as one of the artists for the High Art Billboard Project through the Arts Council of Indianapolis for 2019-2020. Winger is an adjunct professor at Ivy Tech Community College and currently resides in Indianapolis with her husband and two children.
